Event Details

This day will cover:

·         The historical development of Church schools in England

·         Visit to a Church of England primary school

·         Models for sharing in ministry with schools (including worship)

·         How to support a Church school through inspections

·         Stewardship of Church schools and their land

This day is intended for all curates (especially stipendiary). Laity with a schools focus or interest welcome.

Tea and Coffee will be available throughout the day but please remember to bring a packed lunch with you.

A variety of people are involved in lecturing and leading the Hard Skills days, including members of the diocesan legal team (the Chancellor, the Registrar, Chancellor emeritus etc), archdeacons, and a variety of different incumbents and other clergy and lay people, reflecting a cross section of traditions and a wide range of opinions (some of which may differ from your own). Curates are encouraged to engage across the spectrum of views to enhance their own learning and develop their own theological understanding as part of their lifelong ministerial formation now and in the future.
