Ideal to create hooks into topics, to develop contextual knowledge and understanding, as a stimulus for vocabulary & writing, or just as a big slice of wow!, an Immersive Dome Experience is perfect for a wide range of schools and groups, from early years, primary and secondary to youth groups, Brownies, Guides and Scouts. This one-hour screening enables you to choose up to 45 minutes of content from the choices below.

Please note: these bookings are for schools, educational institutions and community groups working with young people under the age of 18 years old. There is a minimum booking of 15 places required and a maximum capacity of 70 people in the dome. ARCTIC: Our Frozen Planet

Experience the Sound

For more than 100 years, from the early days of black and white silent film to sound, colour and now 360 degrees, moving images have recorded Plymouth’s relationship with the ocean.

With support from the British Film Institute Audience Fund and National Lottery, Real Ideas and The Box have partnered to re-imagine rarely seen moving image and paper materials from the South West Film and Television Archive into a stunning fulldome film that explores Plymouth’s strong connection to The Sound.

There will be event photography taking place and an opportunity to give feedback after you've seen the film. Everyone is welcome to attend however the film may be more suited to adults.

This project is supported by the BFI Audience Fund awarding funds from the National Lottery.

Legend of the Enchanted Reef

Back To The Moon For Good

The show opens with the first era of space exploration in the late 1960s and early 1970s. We see what that era of landers and orbiters taught us about our nearest neighbour including the discovery of the Moon’s origin, composition, structure and the accessibility of raw materials on its surface.

The Google Lunar XPRIZE is designed to democratize space and create new opportunities for eventual human and robotic presence on the Moon. We see the engineering and innovation steps taken by the internationally distributed teams competing to land a spacecraft on the Moon. We highlight the human spirit of competition and collaboration as teams take on this audacious challenge. Who will win the $30 million Google Lunar XPRIZE? The audience is taken through a successful launch, landing and lunar surface travel.

BIG

If we could travel as far as we can see in space, what might we find? BIG has been produced to tackle the question and does so by taking the audience on an immersive journey to the far reaches of the universe that we are currently able to observe. Capcom Go! The Apollo Story

An immersive, historical documentary that showcases the achievements of the Apollo program and what it took to put the first human on the Moon.

It introduces a new generation to the immense challenges they overcame and will inspire them to become the explorers, designers, engineers, thinkers and dreamers of the future.

Colour Your Senses (Sensory)

Colour Your Senses is a journey of swirling particles that collide, overlap and disperse, enveloping the dome in glittering lights.

Combined with custom-created spatial audio, the experience begins with colourful flecks of light that gently grow and evolve into a beautiful bioluminescent symphony which then calmly wind down to a tranquil ending.

F ollow The Water (Sensory)

Follow The Water created by Sound View Media in Plymouth, is a 'real world' 360-degree video experience - with natural sounds and no voice-over or music. It has been designed to make the very most of the dome, with no distinct 'front', so prepare to look around!

The experience is comprised of 4 chapters: Falling Water, Running Water, On The Water, By the Water.

Falling Water: Beginning on the top of a mountain, experience water falling from the sky. Experience the sounds of thunder, rain and wind before being transported to a stunning waterfall.

Running Water: Featuring rivers, streams and a journey of water towards the ocean. Experience water moving at different paces before being immersed in the sound of the water flow and the natural environment surrounding you.

On The Water: How do humans interact with water? A mixture of fast and slow movements enable you to experience activities on the water, including paddle boarding, gig rowing, canoeing and a horse-drawn barge.

By The Water: Experience the joy of the seaside, from the comfort of the dome. With a bright sun above you and a vast open space surrounding you. Explore the depths of a rockpool with brightly coloured seaweed, and hear the wind and the waves in the background.

This show is great for showing the water cycle in real life, and for giving those who may not be able to take part in water activities, such as paddle-boarding, the chance to experience it in 360.

Forward! To The Moon

Kari Byron from Crash Test World and MythBusters launches us on a journey beyond the Earth towards a sustainable future in space. NASA’s 21st century Artemis program is the next step in our mission to explore the universe and land the first woman and person of colour on the surface of the Moon.

Using a blend of game development tools, 360 drone footage, immersive audio and traditional film techniques, the documentary chronicles Devonport’s formation, evolution, and the challenges it has faced over the years.

Tim Peake’s International Space Station Tour

Working together with British Association of Planetaria, NSC Creative has produced a short immersive 360 experience which takes the viewer around the ISS (International Space Centre) to see what it is like to live and work in space. Narrated by British Astronaut Tim Peake who has successfully completed his 6 month Principia mission. We also get to see footage of Tim onboard the ISS specifically for this project.

The project was supported by the UKSA (UK Space Agency) and ESA (European Space Agency) with additional support from Explorer Dome, Centre for Life and the National Space Centre.
