Sci-Fi and Fantasy with Brian Catling and Chris Beckett
Event Information
Description
On 27th April, join acclaimed fantasy writers Brian Catling and Chris Beckett at Heffers as they talk about Brian’s new book The Erstwhile - the second in the Vorhh trilogy – and Chris’ final instalment in the Eden series – Daughter of Eden, which is shortlisted for the British Science Fiction Association Best Novel Award. The discussion will be chaired by Professor Rowland Wymer.
The English language has given birth to some great works of unbounded vision and imagination, and here is another one... It's a very sophisticated and subtle exploration of the decadent, primitive and the mythical. Many books are said to be like nothing else, and aren't, but Brian Catling's really is - Philip Pullman on The Vorrh.
The 'Eden' trilogy is a remarkable achievement: with wit, insight and invention Beckett has imagined a scientific Genesis not just about a society, but about the culture and myths that sustain it. It is both politically astute and theologically compelling - Stuart Kelly, Guardian
Brian and Chris will be signing copies of their books after the talk. If you are unable to attend but would like to request signed copies, please send an email via the 'contact' button on this page.
