The SCID workshop is to help support you and your colleagues prepare for the SCID evaluation

To support the evaluation, laboratory specific workshops are being provided to help you understand the detailed practical aspects and associated processes with delivering screening for SCID in your Trust.
The evaluation will run for 2 years and will cover around two-thirds of the newborn population in England. It will be delivered as part of the current NHS newborn blood spot screening programme.
Workshop content includes:
• SCID – the condition, treatment and outcomes
• how screening for SCID is performed and how it fits into the NBS screening pathway
• parent experience
• local laboratory processed and information
• UK National Screening Committee recommendation and the information we hope to find out
• information, resources and support for professionals and parents
• movement between screening and non-screening areas
• changes to the NHS BCG vaccine programme
