Science Focus: Data Logging with micro:bits
By Danica Chapman
Online event
Overview
In this CPD webinar we explore the data logging capabilities of micro:bits.
In this CPD webinar we explore the data logging capabilities of micro:bits to measure, log and present temperature, sound and light data in conjunction with the tool 2Graph.
This webinar follows on from the ‘Getting started with micro:bits’ webinar. We would advise you to watch this webinar recording here if you are new to using micro:bits.
In this webinar will explore:
- The main input sensors of a micro:bit - the accelerometer, temperature sensor, microphone and LED light sensors.
- Collecting, logging and presenting data collected through these sensors in conjunction with the tool 2Graph.
- The Year 6 micro:bit unit in the Purple Mash Computing Scheme of work
Benefits and outcomes:
- Understanding how programming physical devices can stimulate Scientific thinking
- Understand how the Purple Mash Computing Scheme can support you in delivering the computing curriculum in your class;
- Save time when planning and finding resources;
There will be opportunities for hands-on exploration during the session, so to get the best out of the session you will need:
- A laptop/chromebook device with a USB port
- A micro:bit with a USB lead (battery pack optional)
