SCoPEd Competence Addressed

Workshop Description

This workshop is part of the SCoPEd Training series, designed to support practitioners in meeting the knowledge-based competences outlined in the SCoPEd framework. In this session, participants will be encouraged to actively and authentically engage with personal, ethical and practical factors around what I consider to be self-care in- and on-action.

This subtle competence is at the forefront of ethical and professional counselling and psychotherapy practice, enhancing in-the-moment and ongoing clinical decision making.

Through a structured presentation and interactive elements, participants will explore, among other aspects, the following:

  • Reviewing reflexivity for practitioners in the context of preparation for intense and complex work
  • The ethics around practitioner resilience and self-care
  • Effective self-care and burnout monitoring
  • What “intense and complex work” might really mean at SCoPEd Column B levels of experience and expertise - and for whom.

This workshop is essential for practitioners seeking to revisit and refine their understanding of what comprises emotional preparation during the ongoing rigours of practice to meet accreditation requirements under the SCoPEd Framework, as well as for practitioners, supervisors and organisational leaders who work and lead in this ever-present area of therapeutic practice.
