About Scotland Matters

The big difference between us and other campaign groups is we believe the best way to get rid of the Indyref threat is to get the SNP voted out of Government in the Holyrood elections in 2021

Our base is North East Scotland, where the fightback against the SNP began. We already have followers all over Scotland and aim to have a personal presence - organising meetings - around the country, not just on email and social media.

Our followers include Better Together leaders and campaigners, members of pro-Union groups such as Scotland in Union, UK Union Voice, Scottish Business UK, These Islands, supporters and elected politicians from Labour, LibDem and Conservatives ...and many more people who JUST WANT SOMETHING DONE!

Our steering committee includes the Grampian leaders of Better Together - Ian Lakin & Professor Hugh Pennington, Cllr Marion Ewenson, Shirley Burnett, Lesley Milne , Maggie & Mark Openshaw, and Allan Sutherland.

What's this meeting about?

To explain the issues: arguing against independence and the SNP is not enough, we need the politicians to wrest power from them, get them out of Holyrood and deny them the ability to promote nationalism.

We will explain our main objectives and proposed activities.

Hear what key local people - elected politicians and experts - have to say about the situation.

And give people the opportunity to ask questions and air their views and concerns ,make suggestions, meet others, see that they are not alone and get encouraged to get more engaged.

The formal part of the meeting will last 30 minutes and the rest of the time will be spent with the panel and audience discussion questions and views.

Here are our main objectives

Encourage and inform people so they can participate speak to friends, family, colleagues, writing to the papers, read the papers, get informed, participating in phone-ins and debates, contribute whatever time and money you can afford.

Ensure the wider electorate are aware of and support all pro-union political parties, campaign groups, social media sites

Lobby and encourage opposition parties to “up their game”, tell us what they would do to repair the SNP damage and move Scotland forward. And start looking like alternative governments

Encourage and show voters how to use their two votes to get their favourite, reputable, party elected and the SNP stopped.

Recruit an “army” of supporters who will do what they can to support the opposition to the SNP and remove the threat of Independence -and the SNP – from Scottish affairs

Collaborate with other groups and initiatives,

Promote articles , letters and posts highlighting SNP incompetence in health, education, housing, local government, finance and spending

Fact checking claims of numbers in Indy marches, post-Independence transition, costs and economics

Participate in or organise local events such as leafleting, stalls, public meetings

Regular updates via email and Union-supporting social media organisations
