Event description
Photographer Alan McCredie will be sharing images from his latest book, Scotland the Braw.

About this Event

Join Alan McCredie at Blackwell’s Edinburgh as he launches Scotland the Braw, the anticipated follow up to his highly popular Scotland the Dreich.

About the Book

This time, Alan is departing from the drookit to champion all that is braw about bonny Scotland. His photographic journey around Scotland celebrates the cosy warmth of a pub, a sunset-soaked Calton Hill on Beltane, the idyllic tranquillity of Loch Katrine in the Trossachs, the mother-of-pearl clouds of Ullapool and a rare shot of Newhaven lighthouse beaming out into the night. ‘Braw’ is also characterised through the rainbow of an old-fashioned sweetie shop, a bus of optimistic football fans, and even snow days courtesy of the Beast from the East.

Accompanying his images, Alan will be sharing observational quips of his travels, where he spared a thought for the size of the hedge trimmer at the towering Meikleour Beech Hedge in Perthshire, risked his life for his art running from grumpy sheep in Dumfries and Galloway, and almost had his breakfast pinched by a confrontational peacock in what is only known as ‘the lair of the peacock’.

Join us for a complimentary glass of wine and to share your definition of what makes Scotland braw.
