We invite you to the second Scotland's Community Heritage Conversation of 2022, focusing on Your Voice and Placemaking.
About this event
We would like to invite you to our latest conversation, where our Theme is:
"Your Voice & Placemaking"
Join us for #13 in our series of ongoing events, to explore ways to promote and celebrate your heritage as our Community Heritage Conversation focusses on place-making, and on your role in the decision making process. We are delighted to welcome speakers from Historic Environment Scotland (HES), Planning Aid Scotland (PAS) and the Coalfields Regeneration Trust to discuss different ways of exploring and giving recognition to your most valued places. We also welcome representatives from the Applecross and Cardowan communities, who will be sharing their experiences of creating their own community land use and action plans and successfully influencing changes within their areas.
Booking is now open – just click the ‘Register’ button on the Eventbrite booking page.
Our draft event programme and list of speakers is below, but we are always keen to bring something new to each event and the programme will be subject to some tinkering to reflect this and the revised timings.
If you would like to offer a 60-second presentation in our One Minute Mayhem 🕔💥 , please get in touch. We welcome contributions on any topic, so long as it is heritage-related and you can fit it into just a minute. Email us at chcscot@gmail.com.
Following our successful series of Scotland’s Community Heritage Conversations held through 2021-22, we sought your views on the SCHC series and beyond via an online survey. The message from this was a resounding Yes! to continuing with our efforts.
We will be running a series of events roughly every eight weeks through 2022 and the remaining programme is as follows:
- 8th June - Your Voice and Placemaking
- 24th August - Youth Takeover
- 5th October - COP26: One Year On
- 12th November - Celebrating Community Heritage-Hybrid Event
- 14th December - Cool Yule Jamboree
Please pass on this invitation to others who might be interested in sharing their experiences – we are sure there are many people, many groups, many communities we haven’t yet reached who could have a big positive impact on the Conversation. Please help us find them!
Scotland’s Community Heritage Conversations is a series of digital events to bring together volunteers, community groups and heritage professionals, providing them with a stage to share experiences, inspire and support one another with ideas and plans, and to celebrate the places that matter to us all.
The series began as a re-imagining of Scotland’s Community Heritage Conference, to reflect COVID restrictions and has since developed into a lively forum bringing together many different voices from the heritage world. This series began in November 2020 ran throughout 2021
Attendees of the Community Heritage Conference will find many of the familiar features (and familiar faces) that have made it such a success – short talks showcasing the wonderful achievements of community heritage ventures around the country, lively discussions and, of course, our rapid-fire One Minute Mayhem, a 60-second soapbox open to all.
Those of you who are new to these events will be especially welcome; you will bring new thoughts to the discussions and, we hope, will leave with you minds buzzing with fresh ideas and new insights.
The Conversations are hosted on Zoom and will continue to be free to attend. We know that some of you have found it difficult to engage with virtual platforms, but please be assured that we will be on hand to help you get the most out of the day.
⛔ Important: Please note, our Zoom access link will be issued to attendees registered email address on the afternoon of the day prior to the online event. Unfortunately, we have instances of systems identifying this email as spam, so can we ask you to please check you system's spam folder if you have not received your event access email within this timescale. ⛔
Accessibility: We will have BSL signers available for the Zoom session and a recording of the event will be made available as soon as possible post-CHC#5.
