The archives of Captain William McClean and Dr John Berry are two collections linked by their unique and internationally significant importance to the history of Scotland’s water resources. McClean's collection comprises some of the earliest hydrological data of its kind in the UK, and Berry's records outline the ecological challenges facing the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board as it sought to bring "Power to the Glens". This talk by Alasdair Bachell of the University of Dundee Archives, will explore these records, their significance in the history of Scottish hydropower, and their value for the future as we face the challenges of global climate change.
Doors open from 12.30pm at the Glasite Hall on King Street. Please enter from the churchyard or the east side of the building (the lift is available from both sides but the accessible door is at the east entrance). You DO NOT need to bring a printed ticket.
