Scottish Adoption and Fostering's Big Adoption Day Information Event
Overview
Big Adoption Day 2026
Join us, members of our team and some of our adoptive parents this Big Adoption Day to get a better understanding of what adoption might mean for you and your family.
We are hosting our virtual event over lunchtime on Wednesday 21st January at 12.30pm. It's an opportunity to hear from others, ask questions and to learn more about our in-house Therapy Centre and the life-long support that can be provided for your family if you adopt through us.
If you have any questions about the session, feel free to get in touch with Tina at tina@scottishadoption.org.
Who can adopt?
Adopters come from all walks of life. Single, married, LGBTQ+, all religions and ethnicities, with or without children — if you can provide a safe, loving home, you can be considered. We focus on your ability to care for and nurture a child, not your marital status, wealth, or background.
Why should you consider Scottish Adoption and Fostering?
- We provide therapeutically informed assessments and personalised support to guide you through every step of your adoption journey.
- We focus on relationship-based practice, working alongside you in an open and collaborative way.
- We follow a child-centred approach, placing play at the heart of building strong, meaningful relationships.
- We are committed to offering lifelong, in-house therapeutic support for every member of your family through our very own Therapy Centre.
Scottish Adoption and Fostering is a Voluntary Adoption Agency (VAA). What does that mean?
The purpose of the Big Adoption Day is to bring together all voluntary adoption agencies across the UK to open their doors simultaneously to people interested in knowing more about adoption.
Voluntary adoption agencies are independent, not for profit organisations, offering a boutique, personalised service to adopters from all backgrounds. Some have been working for over 100 years and collectively they have a wealth of experience having placed thousands of children with adoptive families, particularly older children, those in sibling groups and children from the global majority or with disabilities.
Over a quarter of adopters VAAs approve are LGBTQ+ and almost a fifth of are from a minority ethnic/global majority group. VAAs also have the ability to match adopters with children from across the UK.
VAAs also provide their families with lifelong support, which is flexible and responsive to what families need, whenever they need it. With the experience and support that VAAs offer, it’s no wonder that every single one is rated Outstanding or Good by Ofsted.
