This year we are proud to be celebrating the history of the Great British Sports Car.
With more than 1000 vehicles making the journey to Thirlestane each June, we are one of the largest car rallies in Scotland.
Scottish Borders Historic Motoring Extravaganza
Vintage, classic and quirky!
There’s literally something for everyone to admire with much loved veteran to 1990’s cars, motorcycles and commercial, steam, military and agricultural classes of vehicle on display.
All set against the backdrop of magnificent Thirlestane Castle, one of the oldest and finest castles in Scotland.

A fabulous day out which the whole family will enjoy, our Motoring Extravaganza is complemented by a range of superb attractions and entertainment.

Jaguar, Aston Martin, Porsche – which one will you choose?

Your chance to enjoy a ride in the car of your dreams, simply for a donation to charity. The car’s owner will take you on a fun 10 mile trip through the lovely Borders countryside and all in aid of a great cause.

Thirlestane Castle in Lauder is an easy 45 minute drive from Edinburgh and only 20 minutes from the central Borders on the A68.

How much: Book tickets in advance Adults £8 (£10 on the day), Under 16 free, Joint/family £16 (2 adults & accompanied children - £20 on the day). Booking fees apply. Box office

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Car parking is free. Lauder is on the A68 28 miles south of Edinburgh. The Eagle Gates into Thirlestane Castle are off the A68 just south of the town.
