Description

Future Reporting of the Scottish Crime and Justice Survey – User Event

Find out more about our plans, let us know what you think and help us shape future reporting.

The Scottish Crime and Justice Survey (SCJS) is a large-scale social survey which asks people about their experiences and perceptions of crime. The survey is important because it provides a picture of crime in Scotland, including crimes that haven’t been reported to, or recorded by the police.

The findings from the SCJS are used in a number of ways including to help understand the nature of crime in Scotland, target resources and monitor the impact of initiatives to target crime. Our latest results are included in a number of reports available on our publications page, and the key findings from the survey are also summarised graphically.

Interviewing on the SCJS is now happening on a continuous basis each year, rather than every two years as previously. This change enables us to publish some results annually and therefore gives us the opportunity to review the reporting approach for the survey. The SCJS team have been considering options to develop an updated approach in the context of the new SCJS design.

We have published further information on these proposals and a short consultation document to provide an opportunity for you to feedback on your priorities.

However, we believe it is important and will be helpful to provide an opportunity for key users of the SCJS to come together and discuss matters in more detail with the Scottish Government survey team.

It would be great to see you there however if you cannot attend and would like to discuss further with the SCJS team please contact us.
