Event Location: House for an Art Lover, Glasgow

Welcome to the Scottish Gemmological Association's Autumn Symposium! Join us for a day filled with fascinating talks, workshops, and networking opportunities. Whether you're a gem enthusiast, jeweller, or just curious about gemstones, this event is perfect for you.

Come learn from experts in the field and expand your knowledge about gemmology. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and delve into the world of gemstones, from their geological birth through to incorporation in beautiful gemstone set jewellery.

Our speakers include:

Godfrey Fitton on How plate tectonics shaped Scotland and Edinburgh’s buildings - and our lapidary rocks!
Rebecca Bohle from Bonhams presenting on Auction Highlights
Charles Bexfield on Gemstones from Volcanic Origins
Lee-ona Long on Valuations
Emily Brown from the National Museum of Scotland talking about Scottish lapidary materials including Agates and Jaspers and their eventual use in jewellery

Then we can finish our day off with a field trip to The Caledonian Rock Shop which, apart from their extensive stock for sale, also has a very interesting display collection of Scottish materials built up over many years.
