Scottish Information Assurance Forum (SIAF) at NISC 2016
Wed 12 October 2016, 09:30 – 12:30 BST
The Scottish Information Assurance Forum is opening the 17th annual National Information Security Conference (NISC) on Wednesday 12th October 2016.
This morning seminar is free to attend for members of both the public and private sector and would be relevant for IT Security Professionals or any individual within your organisation who is responsible for Audit, Risk or Compliance.
The AGENDA comprises of three presentations:
Cyber Essentials - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
The Cyber Essential scheme was launched in 2014 and is now mandated for MOD and suppliers bidding for government contracts. So do you need to comply with this? We look at the scheme and how to achieve compliance with CE/CE+, the all-important scope, benefits to your organisation and the technical and security implications plus the ugly side of compliance.
Protecting a Generation
A look at the evolution of cyber crime, new and emerging threats and the ways in which we can educate and continue to raise awareness protecting future generations.
A New Encryption Technique to Support GDPR
The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) enhances the rights of individuals over how their personal data is collected, processed, corrected and erased. The GDPR encourages the use of encryption, anonymisation, pseudononymisation, and redaction.
Cloud computing is now evolving like never before, with companies of all shapes and sizes adapting to this new technology. The problem is trust. How can a data-controller trust a cloud data-processor? Presently we use contracts, auditing and the threat of legislation all a malicious individual will ignore. Data can be encrypted in transit and in storage, but we cannot encrypt data while being processes. Well, not until now.
This talk is to introduce some recent research expected to revolutionise the Data-Controller to Data-Processor relationship and be the cloud computing norm of the future: Homomorphic Encryption.
THIS SIAF EVENT IS FREE TO ATTEND - ALL ATTENDEES ARE INVITED TO STAY FOR LUNCH AND ATTEND DAY-ONE OF THE 2016 NATIONAL INFORMATION SECURITY CONFERENCE FOR NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE - www.sapphire.net/nisc
