Morning Breakout sessions (select one only)

(1) Financial Crime & Security - ‘A Case Study’ by Lesley Bryce and John Campbell (Room: CPD 1)

Lesley & John will explore a "cartwheel conspiracy", using an actual case involving a large UK insurer. They will focus on key decision points and the consequences of each decision and how these impact the final resolution.


(2) How to define and implement a Risk Appetite Statement by Andrew Smart (Room: CPD 2)

Following on from the morning’s plenary session, Andrew will discuss the evaluation and setting of risk appetite statements, also exploring stakeholders’ attitudes to risk-taking when making decisions.


(3) Managing your Career in Operational Risk (Room: CPD 8)

Various speakers will provide different insights and opportunities for those interested in further developing a career in Operational Risk whether by professional examination, qualification, continued professional development or simply networking.

Afternoon Breakout sessions (select one only)

(1) The Use Test in Practice by Professor Tony Blunden (Room: CPD 1)

Tony will examine the FSA's comments on the use test and link the regulator’s comments to good business value and benefits, demonstrating how the use test can be achieved. He will use anonymised reports of ORM data from various clients to show business benefits.


(2) Linkages between Loss Data and KRIs by Neils Rubner (Room: CPD 2)

Following on from the morning’s plenary session led by the FSA, Neils will discuss the importance of measuring Loss Data using KRIs, via a Loss Event Forecasting Tool.
