20th- 22nd October from 10am – 3pm each day
The Scottish Junior Forester Award is aimed at children ages 7-11 and will provide them with an insight into the skills needed for a career in conservation or forestry. Through spending time around the woodlands of Castle Fraser, Garden, and Estate, children will complete practical tasks and enhance their knowledge of trees, woodlands and forestry.
Each day of the 3-day programme will introduce two new sections and completing all three days will enable children to achieve their award – and receive a certificate! Sections include managing risk, tree ID and woodland habitats. These sessions will take place outdoors, and children need to be dressed suitably for the weather. This includes sturdy boots, raincoats and warm layers.
A responsible adult will be required to stay with their group for the duration of the session. There will be breaks throughout the day, including a lunch break so please bring lunch and any snacks needed.
The total cost for this programme is £20 which includes all three days of sessions. Accompanying adults are free.
Please be sure to register a space for each child planning to attend the Scottish Junior Forester Award Programme. There is no need for accompanying adults to register, but one must be present each day with each child or family group. The award can only be granted if attending all three days.
