Scottish Leaders Dinner
'Are Charity Sector Leaders Credible in the Eyes of the Public/Private Sector?'
Chaired by: Sandy Farquharson, Director, The Marie Trust
This Leaders Dinner is one of a series of thematic discussion dinners that ACOSVO is hosting throughout 2016 with support from the Royal Bank of Scotland.
ACOSVO is delighted to be joined by Derek Robertson, Chief Executive of Keep Scotland Beautiful who will talk on the theme of 'Do charity Chief Executives/Leaders have to fight for professional and personal credibility and respect, particularly from senior figures from within the private and public sectors?’
It could be argued that the leadership role in a Scottish charity could not be more challenging than in the current climate. And to make it doubly difficult, many of us have to work exceptionally hard to establish professional parity with senior leadership positions within private and public life. Very often, there is either misconception or preconception about the competence and skill set of a charity leader and/or the validity of leading a charity as a credible career choice.
The ACOSVO Dinner will explore examples that support this perspective and will give members the opportunity to discuss their own experiences and, of course, challenge the view that is being expressed.
We hope you will welcome this opportunity to discuss this and other topics during dinner. We are confident that this event will be a stimulating and convivial occasion and hope you will be able to attend.
The format of the evening will be:
5.30 pm - Networking drinks reception
6.00 pm - Presentations and discussion
7.00 pm - Dinner and further discussion
The evening will finish by 9.30pm
