Through my career I have worked for the Department of Health and Social Security (DHSS), DSS, the Benefits Agency and now currently the Department of Work and Pensions (Jobcentre Plus) from 2001.
I have spent my working life so far, split between operational management, policy and projects.
From October 2014 I moved to become Work Services Director for Scotland. My aims are to provide an exemplary service in Scotland which inspires and enables people without jobs to find work and support themselves and their families. Having moved from being Work Services Director for North East England I know that the move to Scotland provides me with the opportunity to lead very committed teams, who want to make a difference – it is this that motivates and inspires me every day.
I relish the opportunity to participate with partners in developing approaches to the challenges that have presented themselves because of the local labour markets. I have accountability for over 3,300 members of staff and 94 Jobcentres across the country.
