"Refugee Rights in the Context of Constitutional Change"

About this Event

"Refugee Rights in the Context of Constitutional Change"

In the context of any major constitutional change, everyone must be involved including those who have sought protection in our country.

Following the business of the AGM where we will report on a busy year, we are holding a public meeting on Refugee Rights during Constitutional Change.

Within the context of increased powers to the Scottish parliament under the Scotland Act 2016, the continuing uncertainty over the UK's future relationship with the European Union and the potential of a future referendum on Scottish independence, the event will discuss all this means for refugee rights.

Speakers will include:

  • Aileen Campbell, Cabinet Secretary for Communities and Local Government, Scottish Government
  • Rossella Pagliuchi-Lor, Representative to the UK, UNHCR
  • Gary Christie, Head of Policy, Communications and Communities, Scottish Refugee Council

Additional speakers to be confirmed.

When

Thursday, 24 October. 12pm - 3pm (registration, teas and coffees at 11.30am)

A networking lunch will follow the formal AGM proceedings. If you have any dietary requirements, please contact agm@scottishrefugeecouncil.org.uk or leave a comment.
