Scottish Social Work PhD and ECR Network Event
Event Information
About this Event
This Scottish Graduate School of Social Sciences (SGSSS) funded network event is open to current or recent PhD students within all Scottish Universites, or working in Scotland, researching social work or in a closely allied field.
The aim of the event is to support doctoral work in social work in Scotland in order to strengthen our profession and ultimately make a difference to the lives of people locally, nationally and globally.
We will be inviting delegates to think about how we create and continue to build a strong social work research community in Scotland.
In 2018, Dr Lisa Morriss (University of Lancaster) ran two very successful British Academy funded events for social work PhDs and ECRs open across the U.K. but primarily attended by researchers based in England. Very successful events in Wales and Northern Ireland have since been held. This will be the first network event for Scotland.
We are delighted to announce that Dr Lisa Morriss has agreed to give a keynote address about the work she has done to foster community, support and identity for SW PhDs and ECRs across the U.K. In addition, we will be offering creative workshops on academic skills and the opportunity to become part of a supportive network.
This event will be an opportunity for those working in the field in Scotland to come together and really celebrate, encourage and support the identity and work of PhDs and ECRS in social work.
Thanks to the SGSSS, any DTC Pathway students in Social Work and Social Administration who would like to attend can apply for help with travel costs.
