Complex Multi-Agency Safeguarding Children (Level 4) - Please note this is a TWO-DAY COURSE

About this Event

This two-day course (running 9.30am-4pm on both days) is suitable for members of the workforce who have particular responsibilities with undertaking enquires under Section 47 of the Children Act 1989, including professionals from Health, Education, Police, and Children’s Social care; those who work with complex cases and social work staff responsible for co-ordinating assessments of children.

Learning Outcomes:

• Be confident in using professional judgements to make decisions as to whether a child is suffering, or is likely to suffer significant harm.

• To be able to lead/oversee safeguarding enquiries.

• Understand the information required for Professional Multi-Agency Meetings.

• To be able to provide specialist advice and information about safeguarding to the employing authority, this includes board directors and senior managers.

• To be able to implement and audit the effectiveness of Safeguarding/Child Protection Services on an organisational level against current national guidelines and quality standards.

• This course provides an advanced understanding of Child Care Legislation and Guidance, Information Sharing, Information Governance and Consent.

• Be able to discuss, share and apply best practice and knowledge in Safeguarding and Child Protection.

• Identify the latest research and implications for practice.

• To know how to challenge the views of other professionals as appropriate.

• Understand Serious and Complex Safeguarding Children Investigations.

Please be aware that not all training venues/training rooms will be accessible to delegates before the start of a training course. We ask that should you arrive early please check with venue staff before accessing the training room. Lunch is not provided, therefore we advise that you bring your own. Tea/coffee/water will be provided.

Course Attendance Fees:

The IOWSCP provides fully funded training to their partner agencies.

• At each course there will be a register listing those who have booked tickets. It is the responsibility of attendees to sign the register as a record of attendance.

• If an individual cannot attend a course and a suitable candidate cannot attend in their place, please cancel the ticket via Eventbrite. To do this log into Eventbrite (you will have created an account to obtain a ticket), click on Your Tickets, then the appropriate ticket, and then Cancel Order. Should you experience any difficulties please contact us on 01983 814545 or scp@iow.gov.uk.

• In an individual fails to cancel their ticket or cancels within 48 hours of a course, agencies will be charged a non-attendance fee of £120 (per whole training day).

• No charge will be made if a suitable delegate is sent instead.
