Event description

Description

Becky Sharpe is a film director offering a Screen Acting workshop on Wednesday afternoons, starting on 6th March 2019 to work with a small group of actors to develop their on-camera presence. (If you can't make wednesdays, please email Becky for other options including the weekend).

The classes are three hours long from 2pm to 5pm. They run like mini workshops for specific scenes from films, including Becky's latest film script and a monologue. The workshops involve script preparation, character breakdown, discussion, rehearsals and on-camera practice. You will be given filmed sequences to keep for your showreel.

This workshop is ideal for newcomers to the screen to gain confidence on-camera and for experienced actors to develop their screen presence. Whatever your experience level, this workshop will build on your existing skills and give you something fresh to add to your reel.

You will develop your skills in understanding and accepting direction in live filming scenarios as well as self-directing to prepare for the film set. You will progress from monologue work to dualogue scenes, and build your awareness of camera-specific screen presence that can be very impactful (like eyeline work and presence).

The screen acting workshops with Becky are informal and fun, covering different topics, including the important aspects of camera acting, your casting type and stage dynamics with fellow cast members, and we will apply the teaching to specific scenes and character roles.

Whether you are a newcomer to acting, or an experienced professional actor, this is an opportunity to:

  • Build your confidence in Screen Acting

  • Work with a director who will energise you

  • Get a new insight into your Casting Type

  • Develop your technical abilities for camera

  • Gain fresh material for your showreel

FAQs

Who is leading the workshop?

Becky Sharpe is a filmmaker and photographer, working in film and tv. She is currently preparing a feature film that will be cast in summer 2019 and developing her drama slate, as well as working for tv companies and giving workshops. You can find out more about her upcoming projects and past work at www.SharpeFilms.com

Ticket Pricing

Tickets are £35 per workshop or £120 for all four (plus a small Eventbrite fee).

Will I be able to have the filmed scenes?

Students who attend all the sessions will receive a filmed scene and a monologue. If students attend only part of the course, they will be able to receive either a monologue or a scene.

Please note that attending one session only does not guarantee showreel material, but may provide material that is "showreel worthy" (you are welcome to attend just one session as it will help your screen presence).

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

See www.SharpeFilms.com to find out more about the course leader, and you can email Becky(at)SharpeFilms.com with any questions.

Where are the workshops taking place?

The workshops are taking place at rehearsal rooms in Vauxhall. The venue is approximately 3 minutes walk from Vauxhall train and underground station.
