CLASS DESCRIPTION
The Actors Door Studio runs weekly screen acting classes to help actors practice their screen acting skills on camera. The classes run like mini workshops that involve theory, training, discussion, as well as hands on, on-camera practice sessions for each participant.
Each week we will cover different topics, all important aspects of camera acting. These include:
- Script/text analysis
- Character breakdowns and character development
- ‘Playing the camera’
- Shot types
- Staging
- On-screen body and facial awareness
- Continuity
- Auditioning skills
- Casting type
- Marketing strategy development
The weekly nature of the classes will enable you to accumulate a substantial portfolio of demo reels that you can use to build strategic relationships with casting directors and agents over time. You can take as many of the classes as you wish. You will gain maximum benefit from the classes if you take all available as we will be covering different topics each week.
REQUIREMENTS:
There are currently no additional requirements to join the classes. If you are an absolute newcomer to acting, the teacher will take the time to instruct you in basic script/scene analysis before stepping in front of the camera. If you are an experienced actor, the sessions will be very beneficial in helping you hone-in on your screen acting skills.
SCREEN ACTING CLASSES: LEARNING OUTCOMES
As you move through the classes, you will have:
- Gained deeper insight into your ‘screen presence’. This will help you identify your ‘brand’ and suggests ways to you for marketing yourself.
- Learnt techniques to help you improve your on-screen performances.
- Learnt to apply key relationship and character development techniques to your on-screen performance.
- Improved technical aspects of screen acting such as staging, continuity, internal monologues etc.
- Improved your auditioning skills.
- Learnt how to develop your characters further so that they appear ‘real’ on screen.
