THIS IS A 5 WEEK EVENING COURSE
23rd FEBRUARY - 23rd MARCH 2017
Learn the fundamentals of screen printing onto textiles on this 5 week evening class. You will be guided through the basics, gain confidence in using the technique independently and will produce a range of textile samples. You will be encouraged to layer colour, shape and pattern to develop interesting surface pattern designs. The course will cover using blank screens with stencils and the photo emulsion technique.
What experience do I need?
This course is for beginners, or those who wish to refresh their skills. Those with previous experience are welcome to attend the course to use and become familiar with our facilities.
What will I make?
You will produce a range of screen printed textile samples, approximately A3 in size. You will develop designs using multiple layers and colours.
Who is my tutor?
Kirstie Williams is a founding member of Leeds Print Workshop. She is a practising designer and printmaker creating both textile and paper based work.
She studied MA Textile Design at Chelsea College of Art in 2010 and completed a PGCE teaching qualification at the University of Huddersfield in 2014.
Kirstie works as an Associate Lecturer for Short Courses at Leeds College of Art, primarily teaching in adult education. She is passionate about bringing together a new creative community in Leeds through the running and development of Leeds Print Workshop.
Do I need to bring anything?
Basic materials such as textile printing inks and use of screen are provided. We will provide small textile sample for printing but you are advised to bring along some cotton or linen fabrics for further printing. Your tutor can advise on suitable fabrics at your first session.
If I can't attend can I get a refund?
We will refund you in full if you cancel no later than 7 days before the workshop. For cancellations after this period there will be no refunds issued.
