Screen Printing Photographs
Event Information
About this Event
You will be shown how to put your own photograph into halftone using Photoshop before being guided through the screen preparation process using light sensitive emulsion. Once your image is prepared on the screen, you’ll be shown how to mix ink colours and print multiple copies of your images onto paper. You’ll be able to take your prints away with you at the end of the day and will also be given a set of workshop technical notes for future reference.
Who is the course for?
This is a great follow on workshop for those who have attended our Introduction to Printmaking classes and wish to develop their skills in using the screen printing process. Complete beginners are also welcome to attend as the workshop will be taught in a step by step way.
Do I need to bring anything?
If you have a particular photograph you wish to print you can bring this along as a jpeg image on a memory stick. There will be other examples you can use on the day if you have an idea in mind. The tutor will be in touch nearer the time to discuss options for photographs you can use.
We advise bringing along an apron or old shirt to avoid getting mucky!
Your Tutor
Ellie Way is a print designer who also works as our Print Technician here at The Art House. She graduated from Leeds College of Art in 2016 and has since set up her own Print Studio which houses her freelance textile design business and brand WAY. Inspired by the spaces around her, Ellie explores decorative compositions with playful colour palettes to create bold printed textiles to be integrated into her customers lifestyles. Screen printing resides at the heart of her business and has, and will always be the method Ellie chooses to work with.

Working Safely
We have made some changes to ensure everyone feels confident and safe to come and join in without fear of catching Coronavirus. Our courses are running with fewer participants to allow plenty of room for social distancing.
In line with government guidance we are also requesting that students attend with a mask or face covering.
We hope that being able to immerse yourself with something creative will help to restore a sense of wellbeing and hopefulness as we navigate the ‘new normal’.
If you have any concerns or specific requirements regarding attending a course please feel free to get in touch with us by emailing info@the-arthouse.org.uk.
Course Booking Terms and Conditions
Workshop and course bookings can be cancelled and refunded up until 7 days before the scheduled start date. Our workshops support the work we do as a charity, and because materials and equipment are ordered in advance, we regret that refunds cannot be offered less than 7 days before the workshop date. Please note that Eventbrite's booking fee is non-refundable.
We can offer the option to transfer to another course or transfer your ticket to a friend or relative in the event that you can’t attend due to Covid-19.
In the event that The Art House needs to cancel a workshop for any reason, for example due to tutor illness or if lockdown measures are put back in place your ticket will be refunded in full.
