Event description
Learn the basics of screen printing onto textiles on our one-day workshop.

About this Event

Develop your own bespoke screen printed textile pieces, ideal for use in soft furnishings, bags, and other products. Print Designer Ellie Way will guide you through the process to create a simple 2 colour separation design which you will then expose onto screen using the photo-emulsion technique and screen print onto cloth in our professional Print Studio.

Who is the course for?

This workshop is suitable for anyone from beginners to experienced printmakers looking to develop their practice into textiles. An ideal opportunity to develop an understanding of the processes and screen printing equipment in our Print Studio.

Do I need to bring anything?

Small fabric samples will be provided but we advise bringing some of your own fabrics to test too. Natural fabrics such as cotton or linen are best to screen print onto. All screen printing equipment and a range of colours of inks will be provided on the day.

Bring an apron or old shirt along with you to avoid getting mucky!

Your Tutor

Ellie Way is a print designer who also works as our Print Technician here at The Art House. She graduated from Leeds College of Art in 2016 and has since set up her own Print Studio which houses her freelance textile design business and brand WAY. Inspired by the spaces around her, Ellie explores decorative compositions with playful colour palettes to create bold printed textiles to be integrated into her customers lifestyles.

Working Safely

We have made some changes to ensure everyone feels confident and safe to come and join in without fear of catching Coronavirus. Our courses are running with fewer participants to allow plenty of room for social distancing. In line with government guidance we are also requesting that students attend with a mask or face covering.

We hope that being able to immerse yourself with something creative will help to restore a sense of wellbeing and hopefulness as we navigate the ‘new normal’.

If you have any concerns or specific requirements regarding attending a course please feel free to get in touch with us by emailing info@the-arthouse.org.uk.

Course Booking Terms and Conditions

Workshop and course bookings can be cancelled and refunded up until 7 days before the scheduled start date. Our workshops support the work we do as a charity, and because materials and equipment are ordered in advance, we regret that refunds cannot be offered less than 7 days before the workshop date. Please note that Eventbrite's booking fee is non-refundable.

We can offer the option to transfer to another course or transfer your ticket to a friend or relative in the event that you can’t attend due to Covid-19.

In the event that The Art House needs to cancel a workshop for any reason, for example due to tutor illness or if lockdown measures are put back in place your ticket will be refunded in full.
