On the occasion of Black History Month, producer Cynthia Butare & owner of Natural Hair Forum UK Curly Shirly humbly invite you to the Midlands Premier of Kickin’ it with the Kinks
The growing obsession with universal definition of beauty enables us to safely say that ‘hair is not just hair’ it has become a fashion statement and the kind of hair you keep tells people about who you are.
Kickin’ it with the Kinks started off as Cynthia Butare’s self-funded university project during her stay at Department of Information and Communications, Manchester Metropolitan University, however after receiving a prize for best documentary she decided to explore the subject further with the help of her dear friend Mundia Situmbeko, blogger and co-founder of blackgirlflow. But! this time it was more than a project, it became the quest through many complexities of hair care to discover the true meaning of beauty and unleash the reality upon women living in total oblivion to the facts. This journey did not only enabled Mundio and Cynthia to have insights but also gave them the strength to embrace their own beauty and through this documentary, they hope to deliver the same to their fellow women out there.
Come! Indulge in this journey of self-realization and emerge with the confidence to embrace your true identity…
The film will be followed by a Q&A with the film producer and then by a drink
