Event description

Description

Manchester City Council are delighted to bring you this screening of Resilience - the award winning documentary that explores the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and the birth of a new movement to treat and prevent Toxic Stress. Now understood to be one of the leading causes of everything from heart disease and cancer to substance abuse and depression, extremely stressful experiences in childhood can alter brain development and have lifelong effects on health and behaviour.

There will also be an opportunity to find out about the ACEs place based pilot being delivered in Harpurhey. The pilot, funded through the Our Manchester Investment Fund, is testing whether a trauma informed workforce at place level allows practitioners to engage on a deeper level with service users/people with lived Adverse Childhood Experiences. Will a greater understanding of the root causes of behaviours rather than “treating” presenting behaviours make the current intervention offer work better?

We look forward to your attendance and finding out more about this exciting movement.
