Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

“The shock of recognition! In an electric information environment, minority groups can no longer be contained – ignored. Too many people know too much about each other. Our new environment compels commitment and participation. We have become irrevocably involved with, and responsible for, each other.” Marshall McLuhan, Quentin Fiore, The Medium is the Massage

Students in the Department of Film Studies at King’s are not just film scholars, but also, in many cases, filmmakers themselves. This event – which was first included in the 2015 Arts and Humanities Festival “Fabrication” and was also part of the 2016 Festival “Play” – showcases and celebrates some of the exciting work being produced by undergraduate and postgraduate students at King’s. The programme, compiled by Martin Brady and Kristina Pringle in collaboration with students in Film Studies, includes documentary, fiction, and short experimental films. The final selection will be made in the run-up to event and posted on the Festival’s webpages. The filmmakers will be invited to introduce their films and discuss them with the audience. Join us for an exciting and eclectic evening of new short films.

“Everyone is in the best seat.” (John Cage)
