Screenprinting workshop (one day)

In this one-day workshop you will learn how to screenprint onto paper, exploring a number of techniques along the way. You will produce a two-colour print. The workshop will cover:
- Which materials to use and where to buy them
- Preparing a design using hand-drawn marks and photoshop
- Preparing and coating a screen with photoemulsion
- Exposing the screen on a uv exposure unit and washing out
- Mixing inks
- Printing on a vacuum table and with simple clamps
- How to pull a perfect print and register layers
- Reclaiming/stripping the screen
About the Tutor
Nick Morley has been making etchings, screenprints and linocuts since he graduated in 1999. He has taught workshops at many venues including East London Printmakers, London Print Studio and the V&A. Nick's prints are exhibited and collected internationally and have featured in the Guardian and Telegraph magazine and his illustrations have appeared on book covers, magazines and chilli sauce labels. Nick's patient, methodical approach to teaching is complemented by his in-depth technical knowledge and sense of humour.
All materials will be provided but you may want to bring a sketchbook/notebook. You will be given a protective apron to wear but we advise you not to wear your best clothes, just in case!
The workshop runs from 10.30am to 4.30pm with a 45 minute break for lunch. Please aim to arrive at 10.15 so we can start on time.
All bookings are final and we cannot offer a refund, except in exceptional circumstances.
Suitable for beginners. This workshop is limited to 4 participants.
