Description

Ever wondered what happens in the production office, the engine of the production? Ever thought about it as a career path? Are you organised and meticulous? Do you like to know everything that’s going on in production?

Highly experienced production manager Joan Cuffy will discuss the core skills needed to step up within the production office. Each role will be examined (Prod Runner, Prod Sec, Prod Coordinator, Production Manager, Line Producer) to see what each role entails. Core areas will be addressed such as preparing crew lists, setting up office, progress reports, script changes etc. How this is different depending on the genre of the production. Also addressed will be the key skills and traits that an individual needs to be successful in production.

About Joan Cuffy - Joan Cuffy is a Television Production Manager with over 20 years working in the industry. She started in the industry working for BBC across many departments before leaving to work freelance in the independent sector. Although she has worked across many genres- documentaries, commercials, factual entertainment, it is in comedy where Joan has established herself. Programme credits include Big Fat Quiz of the Year, 8 Out of 10 Cats, My Family, The Kumars at No.42, Whatever Happened to Harry Hill as well as Dispatches.

Please note that this class is for North East early career industry professionals. You must be based in the North East of England (County Durham, Northumberland, Tees Valley or Tyne and Wear).

Delegates must be aged 18 or over. 3rd year degree, final year students and new entrants to film and TV welcome.
