Event description

Description

Unfortunately we have been forced to postpone this Writing Retreat due to the venue unexpectedly being unavailable for the original dates. We aim to reschedule some time in the Spring 2020 (current dates listed are placeholders). Please check soon for updates!

Screenwriters' Forum will be running a weekend writing getaway at a relaxation retreat in rural Wales in the last weekend of September. It will include lots of fun writing activies with an emphasis on screenwriting, to help users add uniqueness to their work in every area from concept to production. There's also a cinema room to share a movie in the evenings.

We would be leaving Birmingham on Friday - probably via train from Birmingham New Street Station at about 17:00 - and staying two nights, returning on Sunday evening.

The cost is £175 for individuals and £250 for couples, with an option of a guided walk over the mountains with a scenic meal in the middle for £55 each.

SCREENWRITERS FORUM sessions can make your confidence and projects succeed. Our Introduction to Professional Screenwriting Course in early 2018 (which is running again in 2019) was rated by its 23 users (on a scale from 'Very Good' to 'Very Poor', in over 50 feedback forms provided across the course) over 90% overall, with ratings of 93% for its presenters, over 90% for its Content and Media, and almost 90% for its Handouts and Activities. User confidence in the subject grew on average over 18% per session, and user confidence in their own projects grew over 17% too - per session! Join our Group to grow your confidence and your projects with industry experts and your peers, every time.

Our Script Development Group sessions are typically designed to provide 15 minutes of news and updates, a half-hour Mini-Masterclass from an industry expert (on a subject requested by the group), 15 minutes of Q&A about it, and then 3x20 minutes spent discussing 20-page samples of scripts provided by the group for development. The aim is that everyone leaves with enhanced skills and knowledge every time and clear action points for how to improve their script, from both their peers and professional writers.
