Overview

This programme aims to support you to develop drawing skills that improve your confidence in observational drawing so you can draw just about anything you want. You can do all 4 sessions or just dip in and out as you like.

Session 1: Let’s Draw Something Rubbish. This session is about play, creativity, safety and loosening up. Feel safe about practising your drawing skills and mark-making without the pressure of making anything finished or polished.

Session 2: Let’s See. This session is about learning how to really see what you are trying to draw, using the power of observation, seeing things differently and looking at positive and negative space.

Session 3: Let’s Not Be Precious. This session is about learning about mark- and mistake-making, and trusting the process, using speed drawing and different methods to capture an essence with value and shape.

Session 4: Let’s Make a Sketch. This session is about refining and creating a tonal sketch, using all the skills learned so far in the programme.

Yes. The closest car parks are St John's or Vineyard Street. It is a short (5 minute) walk from there to the studio.

Where is the studio?

Alice Nicholls: The Fine Art of Tattoo is on Eld Lane, tucked away back from the main pathway, near the Meow Cat Cafe, and Best Days Vintage. Turn in to the short alleyway and go up the stairs to the first floor. The studio is then at the top of the stairs. There is no lift or elevator.
