About

Storytelling is an essential part of being human; it is perhaps the most effective form of communication. For many writers, at some point, we get stuck. We have a brilliant idea that communicates something we are passionate about, but we do not know how to effectively translate our stories into a script, poem or novel.

This workshop will focus on the fundamentals of storytelling through script. The workshop explores the essential elements of scriptwriting and how to create what the workshop leader, Selma terms ‘round stories’. It is intended to develop your skills and knowledge on both building authentic characters and relatable worlds for screen and stage. Using a variety of techniques, the workshop will also explore how we can use our experiences to create relevant stories that have an emotional and mental impact on our audiences.

You will...

  • Leave with the tools necessary to create relatable worlds
  • Explore the various elements involved in telling a story through scriptwriting
  • Learn how to effectively communicate your message on screen and stage
