The alchemy of creating art from traditional materials will be explored in a small group of people tutored by Richard Balman.

A professional mould maker and caster of international artworks. Whatever your previous experience or skill level, Rich will guide you through the processes and you will leave at the end of the day with your own finished piece.

What to expect:

You will be learning the fundamental skills on how to mould and cast your own work.

Rich will take you through the process step by step to ensure you get a great cast come the end of the course.

It's advisable to bring your own work, no bigger than a portrait. Otherwise you may you not get the piece finished in time.

Processes explored:

Day 1 – Mould preparation and applying rubber.

Day 2 – Case building, de-moulding and casting.

Day 3 – De-moulding, fettling and patination.

The course will run from 9am until 5pm Friday to Sunday at our studio. We will be stopping for an hour for lunch (please bring your own lunches), with plenty of tea and coffee breaks.
