Sculpture Workshop with Richard Mackness
Tue 9 May 2017, 18:30 – 20:30 BST
As part of our annual Langwith Scott Awards we are running a series of Arts Workshops in the College.
A one off workshop with artist Richard Mackness learning the basis of sculpture, a fast paced workshop that pushes participants to adopt an instinctual approach. Exploring the relationship between Synthetic and Evolved objects - attendees would be asked to find and bring in two or more palm sized items that characterise these qualities. During the workshop we would subject them to rapid moulding and casting techniques, transforming them and questioning how we understand and interpret objects encountered in everyday life. Each attendee will have a sculpture to take away with them
The tuition is £2 per attendee to be brought to the event, this is a contribution towards material costs.
Workshops are open to students, staff and members of the public. All workshops take place in the Langwith College in our 'Basement' common room. We ask all participants to arrive at th College reception by 18:30. Parking is free after 18:00 in the Field Lane car park.
The Langwith Scott Awards exist to promote artistic creativity of all kinds. We encourage all paticants to submit their works in for the Awards. This year's theme is 'People Power"
