Event description

Description

In October we will host a special edition of our SDG Meetups, in which we focus on multiple SDGs that relate to one overarching theme: inclusion. We'll dive into SDG 5: Gender Equality, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, as all three of these goals have great potential to contribute to an inclusive society.

| CONTRIBUTORS
Jan van Hövell is the founder of Klabu, which means ‘club’ in Swahili. During his presentation, Jan will tell us how they are building sports clubs where young refugees are rebuilding their lives & how they raise funds by selling high-quality sportswear.

Julius Weise is the founder of Welcome App: an easy and interactive platform that activates locals and newcomers to get in touch with each other. Both socially and professionally, online and offline. Julius advocates that we can only create a balanced society together, otherwise people and groups will drift apart and he’ll tell us all about their ‘No Negativity. No Prejudices. No fuss.’ motto during the presentation.

Marie-Anne van Reijen is the founder of Meer vrouwen in de politiek. She believes that to achieve gender equality in the Netherlands, women must be 50% part of all political bodies. Because equal representation in the politics has an oil spill effect and leads the way to women exerting influence on all policy areas. At the SDG Meetup Marie-Anne will be our special guest that poses a question to the audience: What should be Meer vrouwen in de politiek’s EU expansion strategy?

| WHAT ARE SDG MEETUPS?

The Sustainable Development Goals Meetup is a monthly meetup powered by SDG House Residents, Impact Hub Amsterdam, and C-Change.

The SDG Meetup series provides a continuous engagement opportunity to accelerate solutions per SDG and develop shared knowledge and resources. It is also an accessible collaboration platform for established organisations, impact entrepreneurs, SMEs, institutions and independent professionals who want to learn about and work on the SDGs in an entrepreneurial way.

Each edition focuses on one SDG (i.e. gender equality, climate change). It is an interactive evening event meant to generate new ideas, connections, collaboration and action. At each edition we invite knowledge partners, entrepreneurs, innovators and expert facilitators to co-create an inspiring environment for us.

The learnings of each meetup are shared with the public through a blog series.

| LOCATION

The meetups take place at Impact Hub Amsterdam, which is located in the SDG House (KIT Royal Tropical Institute) in Amsterdam Oost. SDG House, as a community, houses over 1000+ professionals and 50+ organisations working on or with the SDGs.
