Event Details

SDS National Voice 2020 Common Ground 'Making space for better conversations' is our third SDS National Voice event and is all about bringing people together with a common interest in improving the implementation of Self-directed Support in Scotland, and in turn ensuring that Disabled People are afforded choice and control when it comes to social care.

The event is aimed at people involved in SDS at all levels who want to influence the delivery of health and social care. In attendance will be a number of organisations at the centre of SDS development including: Scottish Government, Local Authorities, DPOs and SDSS Membership organisation.


A full event programme will be announced in due course, updates will be posted on the event page here.


Lunch and refreshments will be provided. There will be a number of Personal Assistants available at the venue, as well as British Sign Language interpreters.

SDSS Member places. 

Due to increasing venue costs this year we have introduced a charge for members to attend SDS National Voice. These tickets are significantly discounted and are available exclusively to those affiliated with organisations that hold current membership with SDSS. Tickets are initially capped at 2 per member organisation.


Please let us know when booking which SDSS member organisation you are coming from, if this is not provided we will contact you to verify your membership. If verification is not possible we reserve the right to cancel the booking.


If the cost may be a barrier to a representative from a member organisation attending, please let us know. If you are an individual who requires support to attend please see below for information 'supported places'.

There are a number of free spaces available by application or through supporting organisations, please contact: or 0131 475 2623 for more information. SDSS Marketplace If you organisation would like to be represented in the marketplace please book a suitable ticket type. Please note this includes one entry, an exhibitor table and lunch. You will also have the opportunity to include promotional materials in the delegate bag. The marketplace is open during registration and over the lunch break.


Payment options

When selecting payment options you can either pay by card or request an invoice. Invoices are to be paid prior to the event or you may be refused entry.

Self Directed Support Scotland

 Self Directed Support Scotland (SDSS) represents organisations run by and for disabled people. Our members support thousands of people across Scotland with their social care choices, making use of their local knowledge and often their own lived experience. We work together to ensure that the voice of disabled people is heard at both local and national level. We highlight excellence in social care delivery to ensure that disabled people have full choice and control over their lives in line with the vision and key principles of the Social Care (Self-directed Support) (Scotland) Act 2013.
