9.30am - 6pm
With David Neville, Producer BBC Radio Scotland

Working in BBC Scotland’s Radio Drama Studio the training will give lecturers an insight into how radio dramas are produced at BBC Radio Scotland. From developing the script with a writer to directing actors in the studio, participants will get the inside track on how BBC Scotland produces drama for BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 4.

During the day extracts from radio scripts will be recorded with participants being cast and recorded in various roles. You will also get the opportunity to observe the recording process from the control room. The training will cover the differences between directing and acting in theatre and radio; recording techniques; use of the microphone; sound effects and background atmospheres.

Schedule

9.30am Meeting point at reception and registration

10am – 11am Introduction and preparation

11am - 5pm Rehearse/Record in studio

5pm - 6pm Refreshments and Q&A
