About this event

Charity & Causes

IHRB, Mission to Seafarers, and the Rafto Foundation for Human Rights are co-hosting their fifth annual 'SEAFAIRER' roundtable event in Singapore on Friday 7th November 2025 in collaboration with the Norwegian Embassy in Singapore.

The invitation-only Chatham House Rule roundtable will bring together shipping stakeholders, from shipowners and charterers to seafarers and seafarers’ rights organisations, as well as shipyard owners and users, to focus on the most pressing worker welfare challenges, and discuss effective methods for companies to address them. As ever, a key element will be hearing directly from seafarers themselves.

A detailed agenda and further information will follow, but the issues covered will include illegal recruitment fees and abandonment, both of which cause widespread distress among the seafaring community.

Speakers will include senior representatives of all shipping stakeholders.

The roundtable will be preceded by lunch and followed by a drinks reception hosted by the Norwegian Ambassador.

This event is funded by ITF Seafarers' Trust, Seafarers' Charity, TK Foundation and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
