Event description

Description

I would like to invite you to attend the first workshop aimed at developing a Seafood Consumption Initiative here at Stirling on January 30th from 14:00 to 16:00.

In order to get the most out of our discussions,we ask that you fill in and print out a postcard with your research interests in advance.

These will be used to organise our group discussions into themes of general interest on the day, so the more information you can add the better, but please do not worry if you cannot fill in all the boxes.

Our goal is to develop an initiative for integrated studies into the consumption of animals and plants produced in water; a topic which has typically been marginalised in broader food systems research. In particular, research will focus on increasing sustainable consumption of seafood, recognizing its unique nutritional benefits.

This will align with major societal challenges both locally (e.g. mismatch of production and consumption of seafood in Scotland) and globally (e.g. among key seafood-dependent DAC countries).

This initiative has derived from the University-wide Food Security programme and envisioned to stimulate interest from individuals and research groups across the University, and leading to a Global Challenge bid in the near future.

This first workshop will be a scoping event to identify key areas of research, and link these with capacity within the University as well as identifying potential external collaborators.

Please RSVP by the 15th January.

All welcome – please circulate widely and encourage attendance within your group.
