Fit for the future? How the MSC can stay the course.

What should the future hold for the Marine Stewardship Council and the fisheries and companies that use its blue label? With fisheries and NGOs sometimes disagreeing on the future direction of the MSC, what is the best course to help the fishing sector deliver the sustainability commitments expected by retailers and consumers?

Through the lens of UN Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG 14), this year’s Seafood Futures Forum invites you to join the discussion on how to balance the need to live within our oceans’ ecological limits, while ensuring seafood supplies are safeguarded for this and future generations. We’ll discuss how effective multi-stakeholder engagement can help deliver reductions in overfishing, the eradication of IUU, minimise impacts on habitats and improve science-led management -- all critical components of the MSC program. We’ll also address the growing expectations around transparency and continuous improvement to ensure the MSC maintains its robust, mission-driven programme.

09:00-09:15: Opening remarks, Rupert Howes, MSC CEO
09:15-09:30: Key trends and market opportunities, Nicolas Guichoux, MSC Global Commercial Director
09:30-09:45: Keynote address from Ally Dingwall, Aquaculture and Fisheries Manager, Sainsbury's
09:45-10:30: Panel discussion moderated by Melanie Siggs, independent advisor and GAA Director

You are invited to join us for a networking breakfast from 8:30 and join us for further networking until 11:00.

Please note that there is filming taking place in the room, and no other filming is allowed. Any filming equipment must be stored in our free cloakroom.
