The activity will invovle snorkelling over the seagrass beds looking for seeds. However, seagrass is delicate so we must be careful with our fins to avoid damaging the beds. Therefore, whilst in the water, you will not be able to put your feet down. Instead, each buddy pair will have a float which they can use to hold onto and talk to each other. Sadly, this means we can only offer this oppotunity to experienced snorkellers who are comfortable with this criteria and over the age of 14. There will also be a drift seagrass collection event running prior to this session which you are welcome to join aswell.
You will also need to bring all of your own snorkelling equipment as listed below:
- Wetsuit (suitable for an hour in the water)
- Hood, gloves, and boots/neoprene socks
- Snorkel and mask
- Fins
Optional extras if you have them:
- Changing robe
- Underwater camera
- Surface marker buoy with reel (helps if you can tie a weight to the end of the reel to be able ot gently put the reel on the ground while collecting the seeds)
