About this event

Other

We will meet at the Wild Chesil Centre and be taken on a guided walk with our wildlife trust guides to search for natural treasures that have washed up on the beach! The walk will start at 11:00am and will last for approximately 1.5 hours. Please aim to arrive 5-10 minutes before the start time. This family-friendly event is a great opportunity to discover more about what lives in the deeper waters, usually hidden from view, from slow-growing corals to eggcases of sharks and other marine species and who knows what else you might find?

Sturdy footwear (e.g. walking boots) is recommended as we will be going over some uneven ground. Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions on the day as the site is fairly exposed.

There is a large council-owned pay and display car park (Chesil Beach Pay & Display) next to the Wild Chesil Centre. Please note, parking charges are not included in the event ticket cost.

If coming by public transport, the number 1 bus runs regularly between Weymouth and Portland. If travelling from Weymouth direction the closest bus stop is Wyke Regis, opposite Ferrybridge and if travelling from Portland direction is Wyke Regis, Chesil Beach Holiday Park. It is then approximately a 10-15 minute walk to the centre.Join us for a nurturing and educational Seashore Safari at the Wild Chesil Centre, in partnership with the Dorset Wildlife trust.

Please note that the Seashore Scavenger Hunt is limited to only one parent/carer per child/children as the Wildlife Trust risk assessments can only accommodate 20 people on a seashore safari at one time and we wish to prioritise spaces for children.

Additional parent/carers are welcome to join the afternoon and can use the time to take chill out or take some much-needed respite. In addition to the café at the centre there are some lovely walking/ running and cycling trails from the centre or you could just sunbathe on the beach.
