[Note that this walk takes approx. 2 hours one-way - see below for some shorter options.]
Join us for a guided seaside stroll from Brighton to the lovely village of Rottingdean, a leisurely walk of about 4 miles eastwards along the Sussex coast.
This wellness activity with a guide is for everybody – there is no rush, it is entirely off-road on good paved paths with no steep hills, and is suitable for prams, children and dogs.
Starting from the Sea Life aquarium located in front of Brighton Pier, we follow the beach to Brighton Marina whilst your guide describes the history and geography of the Brighton area. We then take the coastal path under tall white cliffs to the picturesque village of Rottingdean which is over 1000 years old.
Your ticket price includes a sandwich snack and soft drink on arrival in Rottingdean, or else traditional English tea with cake, or even a pint with a packet of crisps in the local pub!
After our refreshment break, you are free to enjoy the area around Rottingdean - you can choose to relax on the village beach, or else visit local historic sites such as the gardens of Rudyard Kipling's former home, the Georgian era Beacon Windmill inside the local Nature Reserve, or the Grange Museum & Art Gallery.
There are also lovely views on offer as we look further along the English Channel towards Eastbourne. Why not make a day of it and visit the South Downs National Park, including the Seven Sisters (a series of magnificent chalk sea cliffs) or the infamous Beachy Head - the highest chalk headland in Britain?
The return journey to Brighton is unaccompanied and at your leisure. It can be done from Rottingdean on foot (90’), by local bus (30'), by bicycle (30’), or by taxi (15’). Your guide will be pleased to provide further information and assistance.
Please note: this guided walk takes 90-120 minutes one-way from Brighton Pier, ending in Rottingdean from where you will need to make your own way back. The same route can also be covered more quickly on a guided bicycle tour using off-road cycle paths, or else by meeting your guide at Brighton Marina (approximately half-way, making a 2-mile walk).
