About this event

Food & Drink • Food

This is the fourth workshop in our newly launched Seasonal Abundance series. Throughout this series we will be sharing skills on all things related to food growing, foraging and food processing and preserving. Although each workshop is a standalone, we expect to grow a community of people along the way who are passionate about learning new skills and applying them locally. Over time, we expect friendships to grow and ideas to take seed!

We are offering a special discount to people living within 5 miles of Hockerton, but the workshop series is of course to anyone travelling from further away as well.

This particular workshop comes just as the darker months set in and we need cosiness, comforting food and community around us. Together, we will prepare a feast from scratch- harvesting our ingredients, and using home grown and home preserved ingredients. When it is all ready, we will set our feast table (indoors unless we have balmy weather!), sit down and share it together. Our feast will be a three course meal featuring the beautiful 'Three Sisters' trio of maize, beans and winter squash, as well as plenty of greens and fruits, and seasonal drinks. It will be vegetarian and we can cater for vegan and gluten free diets too.

If you are interested in how you could grow and cook more of your own food whilst enjoying delicious flavours and colours, then this workshop is bound to inspire you. Whether you love to co-create delicious food alongside others or have never cooked before, you will be a welcome member of the feast preparation team. Just come with a willingness to get stuck in harvesting, rinsing and chopping, crushing, shredding and blending etc.

Please let us know any accessibility needs and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Frequently asked questions

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

We are 1 mile from Southwell which is served by frequent buses from Nottingham, and a 15 minute taxi from the East Coast mainline stop in Newark. There is enough parking, but please car share where possible.

What should I bring into the event?

Please dress for indoors and outdoors as we may be using both our indoor kitchen and our outdoor kitchen, and harvesting fresh foods from outdoors or in polytunnels.

What's the refund policy?

Refunds are made if cancellations are made up to 14 days in advance, or we can offer a transfer to an alternative course of the same value.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes, please let us know of any changes to contact details where relevant (names, and mobile phone number in case of issues on the day).

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes, please let us know in advance, preferably by updating your registration information.
