Seasons Greetings by Alan Ayckbourn
Description
Alan Ayckbourn's festive comedy 'Seasons Greetings' comes to Deansgate, Manchester this Christmas for just four nights. Staged underground in a new pop-up theatre space, 'The Vaults' are adjacent to the Spinningfields Chrismas markets: a sure way to get you in the spirit even before you're in side!
Set over the four days surrounding December 25th, Ayckbourn's classic story of friends, family and a children's puppet theatre show takes you in side the home of Belinda & Neville on Christmas Eve as they prepare for the following day. Neville's sister Phyllis (who will insist on cooking dinner) and her weak-spirited husband Dr Bernard are staying for the festive season despite their differences with Harvey, the Grandad who does nothing but watches the same films that appear in the Radio Times every Christmas. Also staying are Eddie and Pattie, however their marriage would be better kept to themselves the way things are going! Last but not least Rachel, Belinda's Sister has invited a local author (who has recently found fame with his first and only piece of literature) to stay in the hope of kindling something a little more than friendship.
Directed by Rick Bithell, 'Seasons Greetings' will be the debut production for 'Plough On Sunday' productions and supports a nine strong cast of local actors from across Manchester. Refreshments will be available, including of course mulled wine and mince pies.
