Event description

Description

Walk & Talk with expert Ian Tittley, formerly Natural History Museum, Kent Field Club & Kent Wildlife Trust.

The Thanet Coast’s chalk reef provides a perfect substrate for algae communities and is a designated Marine Protected Area (http://nekmpa.org.uk/). Join Ian Tittley to find out everything you would like to know about seaweed, their uses and properties on this outdoor talk on coast in Broadstairs, Kent.

Please wear appropriate footwear suitable for walking on the sand, onto the chalk reef & through rockpools (eg wetshoes or wellington boots). The terrain is the rocky shore - so of 'moderate' difficulty for walking. The distance covered will be relatvely short (approx. 1km in total). Please also wear appropriate clothing for the weather conditions on the day (water/windproof if wet/windy; or coverup, hat or suncream, if sunny!)

This event is suitable for adults (14 years+) and last for 2 hours. Under 18s will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult. Online donation welcome - suggest £3 per person to Thanet Coast Project at: http://nekmpa.org.uk/how-to-help/make-a-donation/
