On the Second Saturday of every month, Guildhall Art Gallery runs themed family events. Our revolving programme of family activities may have you heading into the Roman Amphitheatre and hearing tales of Roman conquests or creating crafts from the Victorian paintings surrounding you.
Our Second Saturday on 8 November coincides with the Lord Mayor's Show, the City's yearly procession welcoming in the new Lord Mayor. There will be 7000 people, 200 horses and around 150 floats travelling from Mansion House to the Royal Courts of Justice and back. It is a spectacle not to be missed. As part of your day out come along to Guildhall Art Gallery to make your own tricorn hat and explore art related to the City.
11 am - 4pm Creative Activity:
- Make a personalised tri-corn hat and pick up a Lord Mayor's Show art trail to help you explore the Art Gallery
11am and 2pm Story time:
- Story sessions celebrating creativity, art, artists and the City.
There will also be a story zone with cushions, costumes, and soft play building bricks.
The activities are free; however, booking is encouraged as it helps us ensure we have enough resources for everybody. Walk-ins are welcome on the day.
The Guildhall Art Gallery is free to enter. The current exhibition is Evelyn De Morgan, and you can pick up a free family guide at the front desk. The exhibition is 'Pay What You Can' so you can pay as much or as little as you like for your ticket, or visit for free.
There is plenty to explore in the Art Gallery, so plan to make a day of it. You can bring your lunch to have outside in Guildhall Yard or in our large cloakroom area.
This event is for children aged 3 to 13 and their families. It is not suitable for individual adults.
